An Honest and Unbiased Exploration of Administrative Alternatives
The Administrative Structure Review (ASR) project was conducted by the ASR Committee from 10/14/04 to 11/30/05.
Our objective was to review the current administrative structure, analyze other possible administrative paradigms, and make a recommendation to the Orcas Island School Board (OISB) regarding possible administrative structure alternatives.
Whether an alternative was deemed to be better, or if the current structure was found to be most efficient, the committee was charged with establishing a research base for their rationale. The three primary factors considered were:
- Financial impact.
- Efficiency in use of personnel and resources.
- Maintenance of high academic performance.
The Administrative Structure Review (ASR) Committee determined that at no time should financial issues and efficiency be chosen if academic performance would be compromised. In other words, if losing a member of the administration would save money but also jeopardize academic achievement, then the ASR Committee could not recommend such a change.
It should be noted that the ASR Committee's study was limited to administrative structure. It did not evaluate specific compensation to administrative employees. That consideration is one for the OISB.
